I can export my QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop (requires internet explorer) but other than that there is no “true” way to backup my data in QuickBooks Online. If your only concern is losing data you need not be concerned. Companies like intuit can afford much more sophisticated backup infrastructure than any of us can. Rest assured if one of their servers goes down there is a redundant server waiting to kick in so fast you won’t see anything more than maybe a flicker of your screen and likely not even that!
There are other reasons for wanting the backup. You might realize that something went horribly wrong with the entries you posted one day and it would save a lot of time if you could restore a backup. On the desktop version before I do something drastic, I will frequently make a backup just in case I realize that the outcome is not what I wanted. You can’t do that with QuickBooks Online. There are other reasons I am sure you can add and please do so by commenting below. Meanwhile I did play around with a work around. You may or may not like it, but it’s the best solution I can come up with for now. Enjoy the video above if you haven’t already.
