Google does many things well and a few not so well. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of their design when it comes to products like Google+ or Google Hangouts, but until Apple launches their version of the Hangout, Google Hangouts is all we have. That said, it may be one of the most useful tools for marketing and engaging ever created.
Every Friday morning at 8am PST, schoolofbookkeeping.com’s Seth David hosts a Friday Morning Hangout. The discussion ranges from a new application demo, a Q&A from a industry figure, a new accounting technique and many others. Every morning a crew of 10+ join Seth live and the conversation is remarkable.
With Google Hangouts, the following happens:
1. Live communication and engagement with video (if you choose) happens and what happens next is up to the attendees;
2. The entire conversation is automatically recorded and posted to your YouTube channel;
3. The video can be edited and a thumbnail may be added;
4. The video can then be embedded like any YouTube video.

After the holidays, we will launch our Wednesday Morning Hangout with topics revolving around Accounting Practice Marketing and Practice Development, including client acquisition, social media marketing, and even how to host your own Google Hangout. We’ll invite Seth David and Gina Rodkey in as they are skilled with the Hangout process.
The purpose of this post however is to help you learn the power of Google Hangouts and to start using them right away. So, try it. You never know what might come of it.
