The question was laid out in the Intuit Online Community about how to find the unbilled expenses report in QuickBooks Online. In my mission to help as many people as I can with accounting and QuickBooks questions I searched the community for questions that I could answer with a video and selected this one.
VP Controller, an AllStar member of the intuit community gave a great answer to the question of how to find the unbilled expenses report in QuickBooks Online. There is also an Unbilled Time report which comes up when you search for reports in QuickBooks Online. There’s your first clue. VP Controller points out in their response that if you use the report search in QuickBooks Online you can type “unbilled” and you will get unbilled Expenses and Unbilled Time in your results. This is one great way to get at the unbilled expenses report, but that didn’t satisfy me. If the report is available in the search then there must be a place within the report center in QuickBooks online where you can actually browse to that report. I looked and I found it. My video here shows you how you can use what VP Controller suggested as well as how you can browse to the unbilled expenses report in QuickBooks Online.
You might be wondering what this report is all about. When you enter expenses in QuickBooks Online you can assign them to a customer. That puts the expense into a queue of expenses that can be billed back to the customer at a later time. These are your unbilled expenses and if you want to get a report that shows you all of them, you can run the unbilled expenses report in QuickBooks Online. I use this unbilled expenses report in QuickBooks Online very often as a double check at the end of each month to make sure that I have in fact invoiced my clients for any unbilled expenses.
As always I hope you learned something here and I encourage you to post your questions right here in our answers forum so that you might get a video response just like this one.
